ANNE MURRAY’S
PLEA HITS #1 COUNTRY

She was the first Canadian solo woman to have a million selling single and a #1 single in the USA.

She did it with “Snowbird” in 1970 and “You Needed Me” in 1978, respectively. The hits kept coming for her in the 80’s, too. This week in 1983, she climbed to #1 on the country chart with this emotional plea for a more positive news media…

“A Little Good News” was Anne Murray’s seventh of ten #1 country hits. It earned Anne at least two major awards… the Country Music Association Single of The Year and a Grammy for Best Country Female vocal.

Anne Murray had over 50 country hits, including this one from 1973…

And this one from 1975, my favorite Anne Murray song…

Anne Murry once taught Phys-Ed, so she joins a list of performers who were former teachers. Among them were Jim Croce, Gene Simmons (Kiss), Art Garfunkel, Sting and Kris Kristofferson.

For much, much more on Anne Murray…
